At Wallaroo Primary School, our mathematics program follows the Victorian Curriculum, emphasising the key proficiencies of Understanding, Fluency, Problem Solving, and Reasoning.
Through hands-on and open-ended tasks, students engage in challenging activities that foster creative and collaborative thinking. We empower students to solve problems using various strategies and articulate their reasoning using mathematical language.
Each math lesson begins with a Daily Review, allowing students to regularly revisit concepts and manage their cognitive load effectively.
Additionally, we provide evidence-based intervention through EMU (Extending Mathematical Understanding) to support students in building confidence and proficiency in mathematics.
